The search for a Visalia homicide suspect ended in Texas.

Violent crimes detectives worked with multiple law enforcement agencies in different states to find and arrest Kendrick Crossley.

Detectives say Crossley, 25, is responsible for Sunday night's deadly shooting in the 700 block of East Myrtle Avenue. Crossley fled the scene and was on the run for several days.

The victim's name and age haven't been released. The motive for the shooting is unclear.

Tulare County District Attorney's Office filed homicide charges against Kendrick on Thursday, according to court records. He faces one count of homicide with the special allegation that he used a firearm to cause great bodily injury. He is also charged with one misdemeanor count of exhibiting a firearm.

Shortly after posting the suspect's photo on social media, Visalia detectives got word that Crossley was hiding out in Texas.

Crossley was arrested on Thursday outside of Amarillo by Oldham County Sheriff’s deputies. Deputies said Crossley was hiding with the help of his uncle, Derek Crossley, 31. Derek was also arrested on suspicion of helping his nephew avoid arrest.

Both men will be extradited back to California, Visalia Sgt. Mike Short said.

Derek wasn't the only family member to help Kendrick escape.

Lakrisha Crossley, 42, was also arrested in connection with this case. Lakrisha is Kendrick's mother, Short said. She was booked into the Tulare County Pretrial facility on suspicion of accessory after the fact.

Bail has been denied for Lakrisha, but that could change after her arraignment on Friday.

Anyone with information on the case is urged to contact Detective Michael Morgantini at 713-4104.
