A woman who paid for her sister's $3,500 bridal gown has revealed her ungrateful sibling is now demanding she shell out another $600 for alterations because she gained weight during the coronavirus pandemic and it no longer fits.

Reddit user Fun-Line7588 shared her story on the 'Am I the A**hole' forum, explaining that she offered to buy her sister her 'dream wedding dress' as an early present after she got engaged in January.

'She picked something out around 3.5k, which I happily paid,' she wrote. 'We shopped for it together and when she first tried it on it looked great.'

Her sister was supposed to get married this past May, but the wedding was postponed to next spring due to the coronavirus pandemic.

'Last week she approached me with a request for another $600 because she wants to get the dress altered more,' the Reddit user explained. 'She’s gained some weight over the past months and now she can’t fit into the dress.

'Maybe I was a little too blunt here, but when she first told me the dress doesn’t fit anymore, I was like, "So? Your wedding is still almost a year away. Just lose the weight by then."'

The woman said her sister 'got extremely upset' and told their parents that she had insulted her and 'called her fat.'

Say what? A majority of the commenters agreed that her 'entitled' sister was out of line for expecting her to pay $600 to take out the gown nearly a year before the wedding

She said her family has taken her sister's side, even though she had already paid around $200 to get the dress tailored and hemmed when she first bought the gown.

'My sister and parents are demanding I pay for alterations, otherwise, I’m "cruel" for making my sister trash her dream dress for something else that fits her, just because I won’t pay a little more for alterations,' she said.

'I don’t think I’m making her do anything though.'

She ended her Reddit post by asking if she was in the wrong for refusing to put even more money toward her sister's gown.

Guilt trip: Others thought the woman's sister and parents were trying to manipulate her with their claims that she wouldn't be able to wear the gown

'Does your sister or your parents not have any disposable income?' one person asked. 'You've already paid $3,700. She can pay the remaining 600 or she can lose the weight. Up to her.'

'The wedding is a year away,' another pointed out. 'Given that she was supposed to get married a couple months ago and has outgrown the dress, she should be waiting until right before the wedding and using the time to save up to pay for her own alterations, if she still even needs them.

'Why would she alter it now anyway? She can't save $600 in a year, but can pay whatever she's going to pay for a new dress?'

Others thought the woman's sister and parents were trying to manipulate her with their claims that she wouldn't be able to wear the gown.

'That bit about "making her trash her dream dress" is simply emotional manipulation,' one Reddit user wrote. 'If she doesn't have $600 for alterations, she doesn't have money for a new dress either. So there's her motivation to lose some weight...'
