IONIA COUNTY, MI – A man was killed Sunday, Aug. 29, when he was struck by a car on North State Road near Parmeter Road in Ionia Township, sheriff’s deputies said.
The 24-year-old man’s name has not been released. He died at the scene.
He was in the road when he was struck around 9:50 p.m. The driver of the car, a 34-year-old woman, was going north on North State, or M-66, when her vehicle struck the victim.
Police said speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash, which is under investigation. Ionia Department of Public Safety and Life EMS Ambulance assisted at the scene.
