Police reports include deadly motorcycle crashes in Jackson, Stephens counties

We have this morning the name of the Jackson County woman who was killed in a weekend motorcycle crash in Lumpkin County: The Georgia State Patrol says 59 year-old Johnna Carr apparently lost control of her motorcycle on US 129 near Dahlonega.

One person was killed in a motorcycle crash in Stephens County: the wreck happened on Highway 106 outside Toccoa. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating.

The FAA is investigating a plane crash that killed a Georgia man. The small aircraft piloted by 76 year-old William McClain disappeared near Birmingham after he took off from northwest Georgia. Search crews found the plane and McClain’s body around 15 miles northwest of Gadsden Alabama. McClain was the only person on board the plane.

Police make an arrest more than a month after several cars, including police cruisers, and a building were damaged in Cobb County. Suspect Yavin Jackson is 21 years old, from Atlanta. Cobb police say he is facing a long list of felony charges.

A fire at a Rockdale County bio lab facility touched off dangerous vapors and a strong odor in the air that forced emergency crews to close Interstate 20 for six hours on Monday. Authorities say there were no evacuations of homes or businesses near Conyers.

A murder suspect is dead in an apparent suicide in Telfair County. Investigators say a lookout was placed for a man accused of killing one person and injuring another in Ben Hill County. The State Patrol says he shot himself after a traffic stop in south Georgia.
