Baker: Residents will be able to update COVID-19 vaccine preregistration for newly eligible health conditions
Massachusetts residents who've preregistered for COVID-19 vaccinations through the state's system will soon be able to go revise their registration, Gov. Charlie Baker announced Tuesday.
The announcement comes after the state added several new health conditions to the list of qualifying conditions for the current vaccination phase. As of Monday, all residents age 55 and older or with one of the qualifying health conditions could begin making appointments for the shot, but those who had already preregistered could not update their information with the new list.
"Pretty soon, residents will have the ability to go and make adjustments to their previous preregistration to account for medical conditions that were newly added to the eligibility list," Baker said during a visit to the mass vaccination site at the Hynes Convention Center, where he received his first dose of the Pfizer vaccine.
Baker said he had preregistered, received a notification saying he was eligible and made his appointment.
The state preregistration system currently manages only the state's mass vaccination sites. Other clinics, such as those at pharmacies and health centers, book appointments separately but follow state eligibility guidance.
Baker did not say exactly when the preregistration system will begin allowing users to update their information. All state residents age 16 or older are due to become eligible for vaccination on April 19.
