JONES COUNTY, Miss. (WHLT) – Jones County deputies arrested a man for allegedly killing his father during a shooting Monday afternoon. The shooting happened on Magnolia Road just before 3:30 p.m.

When deputies arrived, they said they found the victim, 52-year-old Mark Keyes, dead inside his family’s mobile home. The suspect, 22-year-old Bryson Turner, was barricaded in a room of the home, and deputies said he was armed with a gun.

JCSD Squad Sergeant Stephen Graeser was able to talk Turner into surrendering. No one else was injured during the incident.

“Our heartfelt sympathies go out to the family and friends of Mark Keyes. Our investigation is continuing and we are working diligently to ascertain the facts and circumstances surrounding this tragic shooting death,” said Sheriff Joe Berlin.

Turner has been charged with first degree murder. His initial appearance in Jones County Justice Court is set for 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 22.
