San Benito County voting center gets ready for election day

Voting booths are ready and workers are prepared for election day, involving the recall of Gavin Newsom. So far, 35% of people in San Benito County have voted.

Voting booths are ready and workers are prepared for election day, involving the recall of Gavin Newsom. So far, 35% of people in San Benito County have voted. And in a time where some people don’t trust the safety of their ballot, assistant county clerk-recorder, Francisco Dias says he’s confident in their process. “Making sure your ballot is safe here and confidential. Everyone that works in our office has embedded through a vigorous process. They have to have criminal background checks,” Dias said.Many in San Benito County say they feel strongly about this special election. One local, Bob Wells said, “I did vote. It was a mail-in ballot and what’s important to know is just that politics is getting to be too much.”Another local, Kent Embry added, “A lot of time and money has been put into this recall to start with.”Most agree that whichever box you check, it’s a responsibility to democracy. “This is a civic duty to get out and vote. This is the way you participate in our government and to maintain our democracy,” Wells said.
