Company cleans emergency vehicles for free amid coronavirus

FOREST HILLS, Pa. — A Pennsylvania cleaning and restoration company is donating its service to help first responders during the COVID-19 pandemic.

ServiceMaster of Greater Pittsburgh is cleaning and disinfecting emergency vehicles for a dozen local departments for free.

On Wednesday, the company took its services to a local fire department, helping firefighters, police and paramedics.

Wearing full personal protective equipment, workers cleaned and disinfected emergency vehicles as well as ambulances.

"We work in conjunction with them a lot. They help us, we help them," Beth Pedder, sales project manager for ServiceMaster, told WPXI. "It was the right thing to do. It's also helping our employees."

Even though the service is free, the company is paying its employees so they can receive a salary during this difficult time.

After cleaning the vehicles for free, the ServiceMaster employees planned to clean the fire department building at a discounted rate.
