Middle East navies and coast guards to meet in Bahrain in two weeks

The OPV Middle East Conference will see naval & coast guard commanders from the Middle East in Bahrain to discuss the future of cooperation in maritime security

MANAMA, BAHRAIN, September 8, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Navies and coast guards from across the Middle East will come to Bahrain from 26-28 September and discuss the future of maritime security in the region as part of the 5th edition of the OPV Middle East 2016 conference. Supported by the Bahrain Defence Force and Royal Bahrain Naval Force, the event is expected to see officers from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, Egypt and a host of other countries take part in the proceedings.

Top of this year’s agenda is the issue of cooperation in maritime security, with decision makers seeking ways to enhance international cooperation to deal with the shared issue of maritime security. Presentations and discussion sessions from leading officers and experts are expected to tackle issues such as coalition operations, emerging threats to maritime security, civilian perspectives on maritime security and new technologies to enhance naval operations.

Besides a strong regional contingent, the event will play host to an auspicious roster of international speakers and guests, with presentations expected from senior naval and coast guard officials from UK, France, NATO, USA, Spain, Australia, Pakistan and many other nations and organisations.

The event is expected to strengthen international ties in maritime circles in the Gulf at a time when incidents at sea have been making headlines in the press.

In addition to the conference, the event will see an exhibition of leading companies in the maritime security fields including Leonardo-Finmeccanica, Austal, Lloyd's Register, DNV GL, VesselVanguard, Atlas Telecom, Building Defence Systems, Strategic Marine, Lockheed Martin, VT Halter Marine, Navantia and IEC Telecom Group.

The event will also host a gala dinner on Tuesday, 27 September for the attendees to network and meet post the conference.
