Carla Bruni, singer and wife of the French president, has been advised to delay her new album “to avoid a Marie Antoinette moment”. Marie Antoinette was, of course, the wife of a French king whose singing career came to an abrupt end when her third album, Feed the World — Let Them Eat Cake, flopped. She was offered a spot on The X Factor, but wisely chose to be beheaded instead.



John “Basil Fawlty” Cleese has said how much he admires the Germans, and even considered living in a German-speaking country.
