Florida coronavirus deaths exceed 13,000; 2 deaths in Volusia, 1 in Flagler
The state reported two new coronavirus deaths in Volusia County and one new coronavirus death in Flagler County on Thursday, as statewide coronavirus deaths reached 13,086.
Statewide, there were 147 new coronavirus deaths. Volusia County now has 214 deaths and Flagler County has 22 deaths.
So far in September, Volusia County has reported 25 coronavirus deaths. Meanwhile, Flagler County has reported seven coronavirus deaths this month, more deaths than the state recorded in any other month during the pandemic.
The state announced an additional 3,255 coronavirus cases Thursday, bringing the number of cases statewide to 674,456.
Of the cases, 666,507 are Florida residents and 7,949 are nonresidents, according to FDOH.
The state's daily positivity rate, calculated by using the total number of people tested for the virus and the total number of people who have tested positive, was 4.46% Thursday, the last time it was updated.
For the past two weeks, the daily positivity rate in Florida has been below 7%. However, the daily positivity rates in Flagler County over the past two weeks have still exceeded 10% on some days and Volusia County has days that near 10%.
The overall positivity rate statewide was 13.44% Thursday, which exceeds the 10% target set nationwide to safely begin a phased-in reopening.
As of Wednesday, 42,047 Florida residents had been hospitalized with COVID-19 and 5,018,057 had been tested for the virus.
