State begins two-week 'freeze' today

The two-week "freeze" Oregon Gov. Kate Brown ordered to slow the spread of COVID-19 means another hit to the bottom line of many local businesses.

"While we were successful in convincing the governor to scale back some of the proposed regulations, the regulations announced will still have a significant impact on our local business community," Brittany Quick-Warner, president and CEO of the Eugene Area Chamber of Commerce, said in the chamber newsletter Friday. "While this is the last thing we wanted to see happen, we will continue to advocate on your behalf."

The statewide restrictions begin Wednesday and run through Dec. 2, which will include the Thanksgiving holiday. They will limit restaurants to takeout only; close gyms, museums and outdoor recreational facilities; limit capacity at stores; and limit social get-togethers even in private homes.
