Wisconsin Coronavirus Cases Up to 1,780 With 7 More Deaths
Of Wisconsin's 1,730 confirmed coronavirus cases, state officials say 461 of them, or 27 percent, are requiring hospitalizations.
MILWAUKEE, WI — Wisconsin has seen seven more people die from the new coronavirus, and officials are reporting 180 new cases overnight as the state heads into the spring primary and general statewide election.
Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers reaffirmed that the state is moving ahead with the April 7 election, in which voters will choose Republican and Democratic presidential nominees, as well as voting on statewide, county and local races. Counties across the state say they're facing a critical shortage of poll workers, and the Wisconsin National Guard has been called to fill in the gaps.

“If I could have changed the election on my own I would have but I can’t without violating state law. I’ve asked the legislature to do its part to ensure a fair and safe election and I hope we can get some clarity as soon as possible. The bottom line is that we have to keep folks safe and we have to make sure everyone who wants to vote has the opportunity to make their voice heard.”
According to data updated by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Wisconsin has now seen 1,730 confirmed coronavirus cases, and 31 deaths. Those figures are up from Wednesday when the state saw 1,550 cases and 24 reported COVID-19 deaths.

2020 DNC Convention Postponed
The 2020 Democratic National Convention, which will be held in Milwaukee this summer, has been postponed until August 17, Democratic National Committee officials said Thursday, citing the ongoing coronavirus public health emergency. The four-day convention had been planned for July 13-16.
"In our current climate of uncertainty, we believe the smartest approach is to take additional time to monitor how this situation unfolds so we can best position our party for a safe and successful convention. During this critical time, when the scope and scale of the pandemic and its impact remain unknown, we will continue to monitor the situation and follow the advice of health care professionals and emergency responders," Joe Solmonese, CEO of the Democratic National Convention Committee, said in a statement on Thursday.
