A 31-year old Chicago man drowned at Evanston’s Clark Street Beach Monday evening, according to Evanston police.

Marco Quito, 31, of Chicago, was pronounced dead about 9:13 p.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Emergency crews responded about 8:23 p.m. to a call of a person drowning at Clark Street Beach, 1811 Sheridan Road, according to a news release. When they arrived, officers found a person in the water trying to pull Quito out of the lake. Evanston firefighters also helped to pull Quito from Lake Michigan.

Firefighters immediately began CPR and other life-saving measures, according to the release.

Quito was transported to Evanston Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to the release.

Evanston detectives are investigating the drowning, but there is no evidence of foul play, police said.

Quito’s family could not immediately be reached for comment.
