Police arrest Glencoe man suspected of assaulting 2 in Cold Spring

From Staff Reports

A Glencoe man is accused of pulling a knife on another man and grabbing a woman by the throat during a May incident in Cold Spring, according to Stearns County court documents.

Geraldo Mena, 35, has been charged with second-degree assault and two counts of felony domestic assault. Police arrested Mena at 2:30 a.m. Monday, according to the Stearns County Jail log.

A man was hosting Mena in late May when Mena is accused of holding a knife to that man and acting like he would stab him, according to the criminal complaint. The victim told police he kept moving away and was able to escape and leave the residence.

A woman told police Mena grabbed her hoodie or hair, pushed her to the ground and squeezed her throat, according to the same documents. She reported seeing Mena hold a knife toward the other man.

Mena left the scene of the late-May incident and was considered a fugitive.

Mena was convicted of a misdemeanor domestic assault in McLeod County earlier this year, according to the court record.

He made a first appearance in court on Monday. He has an omnibus hearing scheduled for Jan. 26.
