The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Fire
Weather Watch...which is in effect from Friday morning through
Friday evening.

* AREA AND TIMING...Middle Rio Grande Valley (Zone 106), Sandia
and Manzano Mountains (Zone 124), Central Highlands (Zone 125),
East Central Plains (Zone 126), Northeast Highlands (Zone 123),
Northeast Plains (Zone 104).

* 20 FOOT WINDS...Southwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts between 45 and
55 mph Thursday, then west 20 to 30 mph with gusts between 40
and 50 mph on Friday.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...Minimum values between 8 and 13 percent
Thursday, then 10 and 15 percent on Friday.

* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.

...HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 8 PM MDT THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Southwest winds 30 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph
expected.

* WHERE...Portions of central, east central, northeast, and
southeast New Mexico.

* WHEN...From 11 AM to 8 PM MDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines.
Power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially
for high profile vehicles, and blowing dust could reduce
visibility.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Areas of blowing dust will develop Thursday
afternoon and will be more significant south of I-40, especially
in southern Chaves County where very low visibility may create
dangerous driving conditions. Motorists traveling in or through
Chaves County on Thursday afternoon may consider alternate routes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take action to secure trash cans, lawn furniture, and other loose or
lightweight outdoor objects. Extremely hazardous driving conditions
can be expected, especially for motorists in high profile vehicles
who should consider delaying travel.
