10 More Coronavirus Cases In Cherry Hill As NJ Totals Rise Again

There have also been 23 cases identified in Cherry Hill children in the last week.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — Ten Cherry Hill residents were among 56 new cases of the coronavirus reported in Camden County on Wednesday, a day in which Gov. Phil Murphy warned that cases are once again on the rise statewide.

The new cases in Cherry Hill bring the township total to 1,167 with 160 confirmed deaths. Countywide, there are now 8,781 cases of the coronavirus with 538 confirmed deaths.

On Wednesday, Murphy announced an additional 489 coronavirus cases and 18 more deaths. He also noted that New Jersey had 565 new coronavirus cases and 24 more confirmed deaths on Tuesday. “Across the country, as well as here in New Jersey, we are seeing increased transmission and contraction of coronavirus among young people in their teens and 20s,” Camden County Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli Jr. said. “We can’t beat this virus if only parts of our population are doing their part. We need everybody to stay home as much as possible, wear a mask, and social distance. One day we will be able to come together again for parties and large gatherings, but right now we have to make small sacrifices to protect our community.”

The new cases in Cherry Hill included two boys older than 10. Since July 23, 23 children in Cherry Hill have tested positive for the coronavirus at a time when schools are discussing various options for reopening in the fall. Trace investigations are underway in all new cases. The following information is available about the other eight new Cherry Hill cases:

  • Two men in their 40s;
  • A woman in her 70s;
  • Two women in their 30s;
  • A man in his 20s;
  • A woman in her 50s; and
  • A woman in her 40s.
