'When I was a young woman, my life’s direction took a massive detour,' she wrote on her blog.
'My singing career was going well. I was a signed singer-songwriter with Warner Chapel Music. I had plenty of studio time under my belt and I wasn’t even twenty yet. It came as quite a shock when I started losing my hearing. It was due to otosclerosis.'
Speaking to Mamamia, the now 46-year-old also shared: ‘To tell you the truth, I haven’t been able to talk about it for 20 years. If I tried to talk about it, it would be like being kicked in the guts and I start to well up.’

Last year Gamble decided to face her fear and return to her musical roots.
‘Although I had surgery to fix the condition, I never trusted my hearing until now. If you can’t hear, you can’t pitch. It broke my heart,' she explained.
With the assistance of Taxiride singer Jason Singh and a series of singing lessons, Gamble hoped to surprise her husband Dr Rick Wolfe with a single release.
At the time Gamble once again took to her personal blog to share the release news of her new single: ‘It’s Time’.
She said she dedicated the single to her husband on their anniversary, explaining that he was the inspiration behind her return to music.
