Cross T Ranch: This ministry helps kids/teens learn basic horsemanship, self-control, anger management and respect for others. Norris High School: The Attalla Jr./Norris High Foundation Inc. is continuing efforts for donations and artifacts, pictures and other items from the old Norris High School. It also is seeking pictures of the old corn mill that was in Attalla, pictures of the old Attalla Train Station and history of the Attalla town and school. Contact the Rev. Gadsden State’s Salon & Spa Management Program: Accepting appointments for customer days from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays in the Cosmetology building on the East Broad Campus. Greater Gadsden Greeters: A nonprofit social club for women who are newcomers to the area, including but not limited to Gadsden, Rainbow City, Attalla, Southside, and Ohatchee. The club offers a variety of social activities on a monthly basis, from August through May. It affords the opportunity for women to establish friendships and pursue hobbies and interests. It is not affiliated with any church, charity or civic group. Any woman who has lived in the area less than four years may apply for membership. Annual dues are $20. Veterans Upward Bound: Military veterans residing in Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Cleburne, DeKalb, Etowah, Jefferson, Marshall, St. Clair or Talladega counties are invited to take advantage of the free services offered through Veterans Upward Bound, a TRiO program funded 100 percent by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education. Enrollment at Gadsden State or any other college or university is not mandatory to participate. Shepherd’s Cove Hospice offers free grief support services to both children and adults who have experienced the death of a significant person, regardless of the circumstances surrounding the loss. Shepherd’s Cove Hospice desires to assist children and adults on their grief journey by providing a variety of opportunities, including support to individuals who are coping with a loss because of a violent crime. Nichols Memorial Library: Nichols Memorial Library, home of the Northeast Alabama Genealogical Society, is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursdays for anyone interested in family history research. A discussion group meets at 9 a.m. Thursdays. It is led by John McFarland. Everyone is welcome to come and participate. The library contains genealogical information and family files from all areas of Alabama, Georgia, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and other states. Clayton Cemetery: The Northeast Alabama Genealogical Society will be publishing a book on those buried in Clayton Cemetery in the Alabama City area.
