SAN JOSE — A man riding a stolen motorcycle died Friday afternoon when he crashed into a light pole in South San Jose, police said.
The fatal collision was reported about 4:15 p.m. at Pearl Avenue and Branham Lane, said San Jose police Officer Gina Tepoorten.
Tepoorten said the man was riding a 2015 Yamaha R6 southbound on Pearl and attempting to turn onto eastbound Branham when he lost control and slid into a light pole.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The traffic fatality is the city’s 22nd of the year.
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office identified the man as Juan Padilla, 37, of San Jose.
The Yamaha had been reported stolen out of San Jose earlier in the day, Tepoorten said.
Additional details were not immediately available.
