Donald A. Bouffard, 85. December 9, 1933 – August 8, 2019. Passed through heavenly gates on August 8, 2019. He was the loving father of Delores Burgess, Jimmy Bouffard and Kathleen Creech. At the time of his death, he was married to Gayle Thigpen Bouffard for over 27 years. Don leaves siblings Edward, Joseph, Frank, and Marie Renier. Don was an avid golfer achieving five holes-in-one and many, many awards. One of his many pleasures was smoking a good cigar. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Gayle, family and friends. James B. Springfield 81, of Fort Lauderdale died on Wednesday July 31, 2019 with his family by his side. A resident South Florida for 50 years formerly from Guin, Alabama. James served his Country in the US Army and worked in accounting prior to retirement. He is Survived by his Daughter: Shannon (Doug) Loizzo of Jacksonville, Son: Joe (Dara) Springfield of Marietta, Ga. Grandchildren Brayden, Davin, Ivy and Charles Springfield. Kayla and DJ Loizzo. Dearly loved son, brother and friend, Thomas G. Brumley passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord at 3:54 pm, Thursday July 25, 2019, surrounded by loving family and friends.Tom was born March 23, 1956 in Owensboro Kentucky to Harry Brumley, Jr. and Sue Green Brumley. He moved with his family to Fort Lauderdale in 1970 and remained a member of that community until his death. Tom was in the Stranahan High School graduating class of 1974 and remained close to many of his fellow classmates, attending reunions and other activities. He become a certified dental lab technician and after working at other local labs, Tom started Black Tip AU Works Dental Lab in 1995, and worked there until his death. Considered a master technician and artist, Tom always kept up with the latest new procedures and technologies and was deeply respected in the dental industry.As a Boy Scout, Tom’s patriotism and love of his country grew strong and he always felt grateful that he was born in “the greatest country in the world”. Tom’s strong faith and love of God greatly influenced his relationships and all who came to know him, loved him. A gentle, kind, positive, fun and humble man, Tom loved life and cherished each and every day he had. He lightened all situations with his smart wit and incredible sense of humor.Tom is survived by his mother, Sue Green Brumley; brother Harry G Brumley III, his wife Mary Brumley and their daughters Sierra Brumley and Elizabeth Brumley; and by his sister Amanda Brumley Holtz, her son William Parker Holtz and daughter Kathryn Holtz.Tom is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Clara Kihl, Sally Mae and Bobby Pinkston, and Jerry and Bonnie Brumley, numerous cousins as well as many friends around the world, and his faithful dog, Nimitz. Dr. T Jane Lusk-Smith, 92, passed away on July 18. She lived a full, active and involved life as a highly skilled legal secretary and a professor at Broward County Community College. She moved to John Knox Village in Pompano Beach with her husband Roland over twenty years ago and served in numerous leadership roles. She was a member of the Fort Lauderdale Garden Club and judge of competitive floral designs. Jane was a member of New Presbyterian Church and part of the Evangelism Explosion ministry. She was an active citizen, supporting causes she believed important to the future of her country. She is remembered for her determination, integrity, faithfulness, and deep personal faith. She leaves her sister, Donna Jean Yocum Sexton, Step-sons, Ronald A. Smith and Roland S. Smith. By her personal request, in lieu of a private memorial service, she will be remembered during the monthly Service of Remembrance at John Knox Village Auditorium on Wednesday, August 14, 3 pm, 200 Lakeside Circle (S.W. 6 St and Dixie Hwy.), Pompano Beach.

Drake, Grady Wynne, passed away on August 4, 2019, having been the first and long time Director of Libraries for Broward College in Fort Lauderdale. Drake was from a pioneer Lake Worth family where his grandfather, Judge Alex Drake, was the city’s third mayor. Drake was the second son of T. J. and Mima Drake and is survived by his brother Chad of Atlantis. Brothers Dr. Terrence James and Gordon Allen predeceased Drake as did sister-in-laws, Betty (Gordon) and Midge (Chad). Also surviving are his nephew, Thomas (Jackie) Drake of Huntersville, NC, nieces Sheila (Ron) Wilcox of Dunnellon, FL, Sharon (Thomas) Rinehart of Dunnellon, FL, Betsy (Kenneth) Adams of Cartersville, GA, Laurie (John) Melear of Atlantis and surrogate family members Louise Geffner of Hollywood and Kelly Kalinowski of Hollywood.Drake was born in West Palm Beach, grew up in Lake Worth and was graduated with honors from the University of Florida where he was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. Drake also spent two years at the University of Edinburgh doing graduate work in sociology. Following service for two and a half years with the 289th Combat Engineer Battalion in England, France, and Germany during WWII, he earned a degree in library service from Columbia University. The years following included working as a reference librarian at the University of California at Santa Barbara, at Northwestern University, and working as a civilian librarian for the US Air Force in France and Germany in l957 through 1959. Then in l960 he moved to Fort Lauderdale to accept the position of Director of Libraries for the Junior College of Broward County, now Broward College from which he retired in 1989.Drake was a kind, generous, thoughtful individual with a quick sense of humor and a way with words. He was a gracious host, and with a feeling of noblesse oblige he maintained annual memberships at the Metropolitan Museum in New York, the Art Institute in Chicago, the Norton Gallery in West Palm Beach, the Harn Museum at the University of Florida and the Museum of Art in Fort Lauderdale. He was also a Kentucky Colonel. In retirement Drake traveled extensively in many parts of the world; but while at home, which he facetiously named BRICKHENGE, he made ceramics on a potter’s wheel. “God rest you merry, Gentlemen”.Burial arrangements are with the Neptune Society. Drake’s ashes will be interred at the Olivet Cemetery in Perkins, Oklahoma, where his great grandfather gave to the city the land for the cemetery. At his request no burial services will be held. Helen Z. Mayrosh, 93, of Fort Lauderdale, FL formerly of Longport, NJ and Bryn Mawr, PA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at her home.Born in Philadelphia, PA to the late George A. and Mary (nee Luttrell) Zeller. She was a graduate of the Merion Mercy Academy, Merion, PA.Helen had worked as an administrative assistant in the Casino Department for Caesars Hotel/Casino in Atlantic City for over 23 years before her retirement. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her daughter: Denise M. Kneas in 2003.Surviving are her children: Helen T. Mayrosh (Daniel R. Brangan) of Marmora, NJ, Mary B. Josephine Fay Wallace, 102, of Coral Springs, Florida and a Florida Pioneer Woman of Fort Lauderdale went home to heaven on Tuesday, August 6th. Josephine was born in Athens, Ohio to Frederick “Fred” Frank Sutton and Bessie Mae (Grubb) Sutton and moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida 1924.Josephine was predeceased by her parents, husbands Woodrow Evans and Robert Wallace, her brother, Harold Sutton, her sisters Freda Durham, Frances Flora, Catherine Campbell and Juanita Donato, a daughter Judith Marie Evans and two sons, William Woodrow Evans and James Douglas Evans. She is survived by her daughters, Betty Jo Bast, Sharon Olkewicz, and Janice (Richard) Day and son, Bruce (Carol) Evans, sister-in-law Donie Evans, 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 11 great great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.Josephine’s father moved she, her brother and sisters to Fort Lauderdale, FL in 1924 after the death of her mother and at the height of the first Florida housing “boom”. Josephine and her family resided in “tent” city set up near South Side Elementary School to house newcomers until her father found a lot in an area of Fort Lauderdale called Progresso where he built their first home. Their Progresso home was lost in the ’26 hurricane. The second home Josephine’s father built has survived all the hurricanes since the “26 storm and still stands today in what is now called Old Progresso Village.Josephine’s memories included homework done by kerosene gaslight. There was no TV or radio at that time. The beach was everything for Josephine and her family. For entertainment they paid a dime to go the movie theater followed by a nickel ice cream at William Mc Williams across the street from Stranahan Park. Reading was her favorite pastime. She loved Tripoli nights with her sisters and sisters-in-law along with large, and generally loud, gatherings with family and friends.Josephine was a loving and beloved daughter, sister, sister-in-law, mother, Grammy, Great and Great Great Grammy and friend. She had a deep and abiding faith in Our Lord Jesus Christ, was quick-witted with a great sense of humor. Margaret B. “Peggy” Cooney, 95, died peacefully at her home on August 8, 2019 after a four -year fight to recover from effects of strokes suffered in 2015 and again this month. Peggy was a devoted and loving wife of 61 years to John T. “Jack” Cooney, (1921-2009) and an adoring mother to son John who predeceased her in 2017. Sheryl “Sherry” Vener Niarchos, resident of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, formerly of Albany, New York, passed away on August 4th, 2019, at Miami Jewish Health, at the age of 68. Sherry is predeceased by her mother, Belle Walkenbrite Vener, father, Raymond Vener, brother, Jay Vener, and her three Whippets; Kelso, Ruffian, and Alydar. Sherry is survived by her husband, George M. Niarchos, brother, Barry (Maureen) Vener, niece, Jennifer (Michael) Weiner, nephew, Jordan (Luisa) Vener. Sherry graduated from St. Agnes School for Girls in Albany, NY and later, graduated from Wheelock College, in Boston, Mass. Sherry and George were high school sweethearts, lovers, best friends, and soul mates. Inseparable for the last 50 years, married for 42. They never addressed each other by their names; they called each other Boonie, BooBoo, Boo. They moved to Boston together for college, and stayed on for another 5 great years, before relocating to Fort Lauderdale. They reminisced about the 50th anniversary of the Woodstock Music Festival, that they attended while in high school. Sherry was an accomplished Interior Designer, producing projects throughout Florida and the Bahamas. Her favorite project, was designing the architecture, interior design, and landscaping, for their own Bahamian home. She enjoyed; snorkeling, kayaking, boating, and welcoming all the”Potcake” dogs of the settlement into her Bahamian home. Travel was a big part of their lives. France and Italy were their favorites, for the Food and Wine, as much as the experience. Sherry’s Boonie was by her side, holding and kissing her till her last breath. Sarah Barnes, of Delray Beach, passed peacefully in Hospice in West Palm Beach with family beside her. She passed as she lived, on her own terms, with a quiet dignity and a deep faith. Born in Newmilns, Scotland, U.K in 1941 to Herbert “Jock” Tierney and Isabella Sharp Tierney, she emigrated to New York City at 18 and became a U.S. citizen in her 50’s. Her marriage to the Rev. Richard Barnes, (deceased) produced three loving sons. After losing kidney function in 1990, she jumped right into service as a patient advocate with the Kidney association. She was given a second lease on life with a transplanted donor kidney in 2001. She made the most of this time, teaching pre-school and following her passion for educating children. She was involved with many forms of service at St Joseph’s Episcopal Church: working with pre-schoolers, visiting the sick, and serving the poor. She was also blessed with three grandchildren, with whom she loved spending time playing, creating, and learning. Sarah is survived by her sister, Jean; her sons: Ian and his wife, Manda; Adam; and Eric and his wife Angela, as well as her three grandchildren. A memorial will be held at St Joseph’s Episcopal Church in Boynton Beach, FL on Monday August 12that 6p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Mary Kelly Pulver, 95, of Delray Beach, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, August 7th, 2019. Born July 19th, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of Madeline McSweeney and William Kelly. She grew up with a pure passion to follow God, spread love, work hard, and to have fun. She enjoyed being a devoted wife, mother, and member of the Franciscan Order. She leaves behind her husband of 68 years, Louis Pulver, five children, nine grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Her bright spirit has touched everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her, and her legacy will be continued on through each member of her family.

Pam Stephens of Boca Raton passed away unexpectedly on July 31 with dear friends by her side. Pam was born in Washington, DC, and grew up in Istanbul, where she swam the Bosphorus at age 13, became a competitive high diver at 15, and wiped all challengers at tennis until she grew bored with the competition at 18. She completed her education at the École Internationale in Geneva, where she achieved fluency in three languages. She helped to open up the popular resort town of Bodrum (Turkey) to tourism before moving to Florida in 1978. Always creative, her styles can still be seen in garments and jewelry sold in the Bodrum markets today. Pam was general manager and later a board member of the Native Sun Resort, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, from its inception in 1981 until April of this year. She also owned Armada Properties with her remarkable husband and soulmate Kenna Stephens, who she married in 1991. She leaves behind many dear friends at the resort, as well as from all around the world and across the generations of owners at the Native Sun.Pam and Kenna spent several summers in Sky Valley, Georgia, where she loved to draw and paint flowers and natural landscapes. Her artistic nature also led her to take up and perfect intricate beadwork in the quietude of the mountains.Pam is survived by her brothers Robert and Daniel Kerwin, their wives Mary and Loisa, nieces Laura Dünki and Aly, and nephews Daniel and Ryan. Her dear Kenna passed away 22 days before her, temporarily pausing a 28 year love affair that will surely be continued in heaven.Pam was a kind and generous woman with a sharp wit and contagious sense of humor. She was devoted to her family, her dogs and her cherished and very large circle of friends.

Michael R. Warden, age 51, passed away on June 30, 2019, from natural causes, while vacationing in Maggie Valley, NC, with his family. He was born on August 1, 1967, to Robert and Joyce Warden in Madison, Wisconsin. Michael moved from Madison with his parents to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at the age of 5. He attended private and public schools in Fort Lauderdale and graduated from Stranahan High School in 1985. He attended Broward College, West Virginia University and Arizona State University. He enjoyed playing tennis, soccer, baseball, swim teams, football and golf. He lived in California for a time, being an actor as well as making commercials. When he returned to Fort Lauderdale in July 1996, he worked at various golf clubs in South Florida, in several capacities. His partner, Melissa Purtill, and Mike lived in Pompano Beach, Florida, for the past 8 years. A private celebration of life was held for Michael with his parents, Joyce and Bob, and Melissa in Asheville, NC.
