    Player of the Year
    Joe Forte
    DeMatha High School

  • 6-4 senior guard.
  • Scored 36 points on 16 of 22 shooting in a victory against nationally-ranked Martin Luther King of Chicago.
  • Led Hyattsville school in scoring and rebounding and earned MVP honors in the St. Louis Shootout and Chicago Shootout.
  • Two-time all-America and repeat All-Met.
  • Signed with North Carolina.

  • Directed the Northwest Washington private school to a 29-7 record and finalists in the City Title.
  • Earned his 600th career victory in his 24-years coaching, including three wins over nationally-ranked DeMatha.



  • Team won the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference regular season South Division title and tournament championship. It was the Eagles second WCAC title in three years.

    BOYS FIRST TEAM

    Keith Bogans DeMatha 6-5 Sr. G
    Repeat All-Met and McDonald's all-America averaged 19 points for his team, which finished nationally-ranked. Scored a career-high 40 points against Parkdale. Made game-winning shot vs. Highlands (Ky.) in the DeMatha Invitational. MVP of Alhambra Tournament and DeMatha Invitational.

    Brian Chase Dunbar 5-10 Sr. G
    Led school to its first City Title since 1993 and The Post's No. 1 ranking. Quick point guard averaged 19 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. Scored 21 points in DCIAA championship victory over Spingarn. Had 32 points in a victory over Provo of Utah a New Mexico tournament.

    Tony Dobbins Maret 6-4 Sr. G
    Led the small Northwest Washington private school in points (26), rebounds (10), steals (5) and assists (5). Three-year starter went over the 30-point mark 11 times this season and highlighted the season with a quadruple-double in points, rebounds, steals and assists.

    Jamaal Gilchrist Notre Dame 6-0 Sr. G
    Led the Middleburg school to a 24-3 record, including the Virginia Independent School League II championship. Averaged 16.4 points, 8.1 assists and 4 steals and made 75 percent of his free throws. Earned MVP honors at the VISL championship and St. James Invitational.

    Roger Mason Good Counsel 6-5 Sr. G
    Shooting guard averaged 20 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 2.4 steals. Helped the Wheaton private school win the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference regular season title and finished ranked 21st by USA Today.

    Pat Mitchell Gonzaga 6-7 Sr. F
    Led the Northwest Washington private school to the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference tournament championship and to three victories over nationally-ranked DeMatha and Good Counsel. Averaged 17 points and nine rebounds.

    Chris Monroe Good Counsel 6-4 Sr. G All-around player had 23.6 points and 10.4 rebounds per game while guarding players of all sizes. Scored a career-high 37 points against Cathedral of Hamilton, Ontario, in the Alhambra Catholic Invitational Tournament.

    Michael Sweetney Oxon Hill 6-8 Jr. C
    Helped school reach the Maryland 4A state final for the second straight season. Recorded six straight triple-doubles during one stretch of the year. Averaged 25.1 points, 13.5 rebounds, 5.2 blocks and 3.1 assists.

    Rodney White Newport School 6-9 Sr. F Helped the Kensington school win the Maryland Private School championship with 16 points and eight blocked shots against Montrose Christian. Averaged 18.7 points and 9.8 rebounds and shot 54 percent from the field for the season. Scored more than 1,500 points in his career.
