San Mateo County Reports 32 New COVID-19 Cases, No Deaths

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — San Mateo County Health reported 32 additional cases of the new coronavirus Thursday.

The report brings the countywide total of COVID-19 cases to 2,244.

The county reported no additional coronavirus-related fatalities, leaving its death toll at 84.

There are currently 59 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in San Mateo County, of which 18 are being treated in intensive care units.

Elsewhere around the Bay Area and beyond, three members of the Oakland City Council and a coalition of small business owners and labor union officials on Thursday called for changes tothe city's business tax code to better support small businesses during the recovery from the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.

In response to a petition put forth by San Francisco Water Department employees demanding that the city provide greater protections against the coronavirus, officials with the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission on Thursday said they've already taken several measures to assist workers.

Sonoma Raceway will not host the National Hot Rod Association's Sonoma Nationals Mello Yello Drag Racing Series that had previously been scheduled for next month, organizers said this week.

There have been 120,511 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 4,394 coronavirus-related deaths in California as of Thursday afternoon according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

The United States had 1,870,156 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 108,051 coronavirus-related fatalities as of Thursday afternoon.
