China reports decline in shipments of wearable devices in 2020 first quarter

An industrial report showed that the wearable devices shipments of China posted a decline in the starting quarter of the current year

Data published by global market intelligence firm International Data Corporation (IDC) showed that the wearable devices manufacturers in China have shipped a total of 17.62 million units in the quarter, reporting a decline of 11.3 percent compared to a year earlier.

Basic wearable shipments, that do not support third party apps, declined 5.5 percent compared to the earlier year, as the smart ones shipments declined 33.3 percent in the cited period.

Earphones shipment increased 26.5 percent in the quarter compared to a year earlier, due to the burgeoning demand of working and online studies in the middle of the coronavirus outbreak.
