Donald Trump Jr. to headline Students for Trump rally in Chandler on Sept. 22

Donald Trump Jr. speaks during a rally that President Donald Trump later spoke at on Feb. 19, 2020, at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix.

Donald Trump Jr. will headline a "Students for Trump" rally in Chandler on Sept. 22, the group announced Thursday. The visit also will feature Charlie Kirk, founder and president of the conservative, student-geared organization, Turning Point USA.

Trump Jr.'s visit will follow a whirlwind week of stops in Arizona from President Donald Trump, Ivanka Trump, Vice President Mike Pence and second lady Karen Pence.

On Monday, Trump attended a "Latinos for Trump" event in Phoenix. Ivanka visited the south Phoenix Latinos for Trump headquarters on Wednesday and the Pences are visiting the Valley Thursday and Friday.

Students for Trump is part of Turning Point Action. That group, an affiliate of Turning Point USA, has recently come under criticism for allegedly employing a secretive disinformation effort that the Washington Post called one of "the most ambitious domestic influence campaigns uncovered this election cycle."

Organization officials argue that the campaign was an effort to continue their political advocacy during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Post report.

The Chandler event is the first of two Arizona rallies meant to energize young voters for the upcoming election. The second Students for Trump rally, which will include U.S. Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Ariz., and state Rep. Walt Blackman, R-Snowflake, will happen in Flagstaff on Sept. 26.
