ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Albany County Executive Dan McCoy and Department of Health Director Dr. Elizabeth Whalen gave an update on the local COVID response on Friday. They said there have been 20,351 confirmed cases among residents since the outbreak began, with 77 new positives reported since Thursday.

Also since Thursday, there were three new COVID deaths: a man and a woman in their 80s and a man in his 90s. The county death toll is 351. Fifty-seven individuals were listed as recovered since the last update, as well. The five-day average for new daily positives grew to 75.8, and there are now 601 active cases in the county.

Among new cases, seven live or work in health care or congregate settings, 26 had contact with other positives, and 44 had no clear sources of infection. There are 1,441 people under mandatory quarantine. Of the 63,653 to have gone through quarantine so far, 19,750 tested positive and recovered.

With three new hospitalizations overnight, there are 48 county residents currently hospitalized from the virus. Of those, six are in ICU’s, down from eight yesterday. McCoy also said that Albany County’s vaccination point of dispensing (POD) clinics at the Times Union Center have administered over 5,200 first doses and over 2,200 second doses.
