Settling in to a comfy corner of a local coffee shop with a good book is a simple joy that was put on pause for much of the past year.

But as more people resume dining in, metro Phoenix cafe fans have a few new options to try for their morning coffee or afternoon iced tea.

Some existing coffee shops have opened new locations, bringing their menus closer to fans across the Valley. Others are opening for the first time with baristas pulling some of their new machines' very first espresso shots.

Not all of these new locations are traditional cafes either. There's a new coffee window handing out drinks to customers enjoying a garden backyard and a coffee trailer that's popping up around metro Phoenix.

Here are seven new coffee shops, cafes and trucks to try soon across metro Phoenix:

Window Coffeebar

Located in the backyard of the Hive on 16th, a community collective of shops led by local artists, Window Coffeebar opened on May 1. Stop by to pick up a pastry, some avocado toast or a beverage. Options include hot and iced coffee, tea, matcha and chai drinks. Then enjoy breakfast or a snack at spaced-out tables in the shaded backyard gardens.

Details: 2222 N. 16th St., Phoenix. www.windowcoffeebar.com.

Pip Coffee & Clay

Pip Coffee & Clay, a new cafe that opened near downtown Phoenix in late April, offers exactly what the name describes. Stop in for a coffee or try your hand at creating your own mug. The coffee shop doubles as a ceramics studio and offers classes for a range of skill levels. Learn how to work with clay, throw a bowl or mug on the wheel, and paint and glaze your masterpieces. The coffee menu includes a refreshing and bubbly espresso tonic and hot drinks topped with delicate decorations to match the artistic vibe.

Moxie Coffee Co.

The residents of The Art apartments on 16th Street better get used to the warm smell of fresh coffee floating up to their balconies. Moxie Coffee Co. is set to join the Casual Pint on the ground floor of the complex starting May 8. Moxie specializes in artisan coffee and works to highlight those who grow it, according to its website. Along with coffee, customers will find a selection of specialty beverages including bright pink, sparkling rosella iced tea.

Fever Dream Coffee

Downtown Phoenix collective Pemberton is quickly filling up with vendors including a pasta truck, cocktail camper, taco stand and shops. Now, hidden among them is Fever Dream Coffee, a new spot for a cup of tea or coffee. Try a hot or iced tea or flavored lemonade. Specialty coffee options include a black sesame ginger latte and molé coronado, a spicy twist on a mocha.

Top Fuel Espresso

Fans of the Apache Junction-based Top Fuel Espresso now have another location to find their favorite drinks. Open as of May 3, Top Fuel serves a variety of drinks to get you up to speed. Try the raspberry white mocha or caramel and marshmallow coffee. For those looking for an extra energy jolt, Top Fuel offers energy drinks in Sour Patch, strawberry and pineapple flavors.

Desert Bloom Coffee Co.

Not all of metro Phoenix's new coffee spots stay in one place. Desert Bloom Coffee Co. travels around town serving drinks from a coffee trailer. The mobile coffee cart started rolling this spring and now pops up around the Valley at rotating destinations posted to its Instagram page. For the month of May, find Desert Bloom Coffee Co. at three destinations in Glendale. Stop by to try a Monsoon Rain made with honey, lavender and hazelnut or a Route 66 made with condensed milk and cold brew.

808 Social Club

Peoria just got a little closer to Hawaii with the opening of the 808 Social Club. This Hawaiian coffee shop and cafe specializes in coffee from Kona, which is used to make specialty flavored lattes and mochas. The drink menu also includes tea and lemonade, while the food selection might conjure up images of the islands. Keep an eye out on the rotating daily menu for musubi, fried rice, inari sushi, purple ube cookies and more. 808 Social Club opened on March 15.
