GUNNERS United ran riot against Al Suqoor scoring a resounding 9-0 victory and moving to the top of Group Four with four points in the Nasser 9 Ramadan Football Tournament at Khalifa Sports City Football Stadium.
This is the highest score recorded so far in the tournament.
Spearheading the winners was Brazilian Diego who scored a ‘super hat-trick’ (four goals). The other goals were scored by Shaikh Khalid bin Salman Al Khalifa, Abdullah Al Arabi, Hamad Al Seba and Ahmed Al Basha, who was on target twice.
With this win, the Gunners have virtually earned themselves a quarter-final slot.They are expected to sail past Vista in their last group match.
Diego put the match beyond Al Suqoor’s reach by the 60th minute with four goals. Shaikh Khalid then got into the scoring act converting a penalty in the 62nd minute to make it 5-0.
Thereafter the match was one-way traffic as Al Seba fired home ten minutes later, followed by a goal from Al Arabi in the 82nd minute. Al Basha was on target again in the 86th minute.

In another Group Four match, Al Zilzal squeezed past Vista 2-1 to maintain their second position in the standings with four points, behind Gunners United on goal difference.
Defensive
Al Zilzal put up a solid defensive play in the second-half to secure victory.
Al Zilzal thought they had sealed the full points taking a 2-0 lead early on with goals from Mohammed Saleh Al Hilali (10th minute) and Atiya Ahmed (14th).
But Vista’s Ali Ahmed pulled one back in the 54th minute and they pressed hard for the equaliser but could not convert any of the opportunities they created.
With this defeat Vista slid to third place and now have a tough task in the final round of the group stage where they face group leaders Gunners United.
Meanwhile, Representative of His Majesty for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, chairman of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and president of Bahrain Olympic Committee Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa praised Bapco for its sponsorship to the second edition of Nasser bin Hamad Ramadan Games “Nasser 9”.
