Longtime Mendham Resident, Veteran, Business Owner Passes

MENDHAM, NJ - The following obituary was provided by the Bailey Funeral Home.

"Francis “Frank” Sisto passed away on December 22, 2019. He was 91 years old.
Born and raised in Newark, NJ, to parents Michael and Frances (nee Travisano) Sisto, he moved to Mendham in 1967 and has been a resident since. He was a practicing Catholic and attended St. Joseph Church in Mendham.

After serving in the Navy, Frank moved to Southern California in 1948. There he worked, resided and was a member of the Alhambra Elks Lodge. In 1957, he returned to New Jersey with his wife, Amelia, to raise their young family. He worked for the Meenan Oil Company (formerly Christy-Halsey) in Chester, NJ for 33 years until his retirement in 1996. During this time, he also founded, owned, and operated Sisto Pools from 1968 to 1998.

Frank is predeceased by his loving wife, Amelia Sisto. He is also predeceased by his brother Donato and sisters Alba and Annie. He is survived by his sons Michael Sisto of East Amherst, NY and Tony Sisto of Mendham, NJ, daughters in-law Sue Ann Sisto of East Amherst, NY and Rebecca George-Sisto of Kintnersville, PA, granddaughters Jacqueline Sisto of Morrisville, NC, Gabriella Sisto-Hidalgo of Franklin Square, NY, Mia and Betty Sisto of Mendham, NJ, and great-granddaughter Isabella Hidalgo of Franklin Square, NY. Frank is also survived by sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Carmela and Ted Starycki of Oldwick, NJ, niece Cindy Steward of Flemington, NJ, nephews Danny Sisto of Wayne, NJ and Robert Beam of Hope, NJ.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 9, from 3-7 PM, at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Rd, Mendham NJ 07945. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 10, at 10:30 AM, at St. Joseph Church, W. Main St, Mendham, NJ, immediately followed by burial at Holy Cross in Bernardsville, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank’s name can be made to Atlantic Hospice 465 South St, Suite 100, Morristown NJ 07960, or the Weinstein Inpatient Hospice and Palliative Care Center 475 South St 1st Floor, Morristown NJ 07960, or online at www.f4mmc.org. Arrangements by Bailey Funeral Home."
