Brazil's Ministry confirms lower biofuel content in diesel for 2022
RIO DE JANEIRO, Jan 17 (Reuters) - The Brazilian government reaffirmed its decision to maintain the biofuel content in diesel at 10% throughout 2022, due to biofuel price increases, the Ministry of Mining and Energy said in a note on Monday.
Brazil had been due to adopt a 14% biofuel mix in diesel from March 2022, but its National Energy Policy Council (CNPE) in late November decided to keep content at 10% due to high soybean prices and the potential impact on the final price of diesel.
In September, CNPE had lowered the minimum biofuel content requirement to 10% from the 13% requirement initially planned for 2021. (Reporting Marta Nogueira; Writing by Carolina Pulice; editing by Richard Pullin)
