PORT ARTHUR, Texas — A Texas man was fatally shot by a homeowner Sunday after the man held a family at gunpoint in what authorities called a home invasion.
Terence Ellies, 27, was shot by the homeowner after allegedly forcing his way into the Port Arthur home Sunday night, KBTV reported.
According to police, Ellies was one of three men who broke into the home at about 8:30 p.m. CT, the Beaumont Enterprise reported.

Justice of the Peace Tom Gilliam III has ordered an autopsy, according to KBTV.
Police said the 29-year-old homeowner armed himself with a rifle and fired several shots at Ellies, the television station reported. The man said he fired his weapon to protect his young children.
Ellies was pronounced dead inside the home, the Enterprise reported. The two other men fled the home, the newspaper reported. No one else was injured.
Police said the investigation is ongoing, KBTV reported.
