Mindful Stress Relief in Doylestown

Jon Kabat-Zinn's popular MBSR program to begin October 8 at Koru Real Wellness

Koru Real Wellness, Doylestown’s newest health and wellness center, is pleased to announce that it will host the popular stress relief program, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), on Monday evenings beginning October 8 and running through November 26, with a one-day retreat on Saturday, November 9.

This is the classic 8-week course in meditation, yoga, and qigong, created over 40 years ago by well-known mindfulness author and researcher Jon Kabat-Zinn. MBSR is taught around the world in hospitals, clinics, prisons, schools, and anywhere people wish to learn evidence-based practices to reduce or eliminate the toxic effects of stressful living. MBSR participants learn to understand, through direct experience, the key aspects of mindfulness as they relate to stress reduction, coping with pain and illness, and enhanced well-being.

Koru is partnering with Amy Ward Brimmer of Way Opens Wellness in Yardley to bring MBSR to Doylestown. Amy has been named a Qualified Instructor of MBSR from the Oasis Institute at the Center for Mindfulness at the UMass Medical School, where MBSR was founded, developed, and continues to be studied, and she has been leading MBSR programs since 2014.

“The fruits of the practice have been pervasive: awareness, intention, gratitude, humility. Thank you!“

The Fall MBSR Foundations 8-week class takes place Tuesdays, 6:30 – 9:00 pm, October 8 - November 26, 2019 with a full day retreat, Saturday, November 9.
