An Elkhart man crashed a stolen vehicle on the Indiana Toll Road late Thursday night, flying airborn into a traffic sign and rolling the car into a rocky median, police said.
Joshua Gene Aaron, 35, allegedly told police he felt like he was in a “dream.”
The stolen 2014 Kia Soul met its demise on the westbound Interstate 80/90, at the 55.9 mile marker near the 3 North Service Plaza, according to Indiana State Police. Police said Aaron was driving at a high rate of speed when he tried to exit the toll road and enter the service plaza. The Kia went off the road and over a concrete curb before flying into a sign. The car then overturned and rolled into a gravel median between the gas pumps and plaza.
Indiana State Police took a report of the crash at 9:32 p.m. Thursday and Aaron gave police his brother's name and date of birth, which police said is identity deception, a Level 6 felony. Authorities said the Kia was stolen out of Elkhart County, and Aaron had 12 credit cards belonging to the owner of the Kia.
