Hathras case accused taken to Gujarat for polygraph, brain mapping test by CBI

The four accused in the Hathras case who are lodged in Aligarh jail are being taken to Gujarat's Gandhinagar for a polygraph and brain mapping test by a team of Central Bureau of Investigation officials.

The Uttar Pradesh government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had recommended a CBI probe into the Hathras case.

Last month, the Central Bureau of Investigation had taken over the probe into a 19-year-old Dalit girl's alleged gangrape and subsequent death in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras. A resident of Boolgarhi village in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras, the girl died at Delhi's Safdarjung hospital on September 29.

The four accused in the case were arrested before the death of the victim on September 26.

Hathras case

A 19-year-old girl was found in a paralytic state not far from her home in Boolgarhi village on September 14. She was initially treated at a district hospital and then at JNMC hospital in Aligarh before being shifted to Safdarjung hospital where she breathed her last on September 29. In her 'dying declaration', the girl had accused four local upper-caste boys of gangraping and attempting to strangulate her. All four of the accused are in police custody.
