1) Stretching is an important part of your workout routine

While Disha Patani's workout regime is jam-packed, she knows the importance of stretching to improve her fitness levels overall. Breathing through stretches can calm the body down after a tough workout, which can bring cortisol levels down too. Plus, it increases flexibility too, as the more you work the muscles, the more pliable they become. Most importantly, stretching is key to improve recovery time. Because stretching forces blood to flow through your body, the nutrients in the blood are being carried flow through as well, which helps reduce soreness.

2) Finding a workout that challenges you is key

Her workout routine isn't for the faint of heart, and includes kickboxing, martial arts and weightlifting as well as regular cardio. By reaching new personal bests and challenging her own scores, Patani is able to measure her progress and find motivation. “The general assumption is that women working out involves cardio, not weight training. But we all work out and do heavy weights; I come across so many girls in the gym training really hard. At the end of the day, it isn't about the gender, but about working on your body and becoming your fittest self,” she shared in an interview with Vogue India.

3) Take the time to indulge in your favourite foods

While a well-balanced diet is important to your health, letting loose and indulging in your favourite foods is just as much of a priority. “I wait for cheat days the whole week. Depending on the diet I am following and my shoot schedule, I sit down once a week and eat everything I can fit into my stomach,” she shared. Experts say that switching up your eating habits sometimes can actually help to reset hormones responsible for metabolism and insulin regulation.

4) Make sure to take all your makeup off

When you're working out as much as Patani is, going makeup-free can help prevent breakouts and congestion. “I make it a point to never wear makeup when I work out because it clogs my pores and can cause breakouts. However, I do always use a moisturiser and lip balm to keep my skin hydrated,” she shared. Experts suggest going barefaced, or at the very least, thoroughly getting rid of all sweat, grime and makeup after a workout.

5) Update your skincare routine to work for you

For some, a multiple step routine can help target all the skincare concerns that may crop up. For others, like Patani, keeping it simple is a better way to get to clear, healthy skin. “I strongly believe in a fuss-free cleansing, toning, moisturising regime that I practice daily without fail. If it's easy and it works, I am way more likely to do it," she says. After all, doctors say that consistency can promise you better results than tacking too many products on, only to skip it often.

6) A combination of makeup and skincare can create a glowy base

A lit-from-within base is the only common thread between Patani's bold and experimental beauty looks. Especially when she's off-duty, the actor likes to skip the shimmery highlighter and blush for melt-into-the-skin products that help cement the no-makeup makeup look that she loves.

7) Mascara can make or break your eye makeup look

Even if you're keeping the rest of your look super basic, a little mascara on the top and bottom lashes can go far in opening the eyes and making you look more awake. Curling the lashes, like Patani often does is an extra step you'll never regret—it'll help fan out the lashes and lengthen them too.

8) A metallic eyeshadow can be a fun add-on

Patani often likes to turn the brush onto herself, doing her own glam looks in lieu of a professional makeup artist. Colourful eyeshadow—whether it a burnished gold or a bright green—is her go-to, and is a great way to play up your look while you have to wear protective face masks right now.

9) Let your lipstick serve as a confidence-booster

When she's going to an important event, like a film premiere or a wedding, she likes to apply a matte red lipstick to tie her look together. “In the evening, a classic red works well with Indian and western outfits—you can never go wrong with a red lip. It's always been a classic look which suits everyone, especially Indian skin tones. You need to just find your right shade of red,” she confirmed.

10) Braids make for a great warm-weather hairstyle

With the humidity and heat index only climbing, a hairstyle that won't frizz up or feel sticky can be very welcoming. Take cues from Patani, who tried tight French braids to beat the heat, or stick with high ponytails and slicked-back buns, both of which she loves.
