Super Chix plans its first chicken restaurant in the Boise market, with a location at Orchard Park in Meridian.
TOK Commercial reports Super Chix snapped up 3,000 square feet of space at the former Linder Village project at the corner of Linder Rd. and Chinden Blvd. in N. Meridian.
The chicken and custard chain launched in Texas in 2014 as a unit of Yum! Brands Inc. – an experimental concept from the company behind KFC and Pizza Hut. The next year, Yum! sold Super Chix and its two units to the chain’s founder and an investment group.
Super Chix takes a Chik Fil A-style approach to chicken, with a fast-casual restaurant setting. It touts ” Texas-style” sandwiches with a larger piece of chicken than other chain competitors. Its current menu counts a dozen different sandwich styles, including the Bacavo Ranch with bacon & avocado, the Nashville Hot and the Cheesy BBQ.

The menu also offers up many of the sandwich varieties in salad form, plus chicken tenders, fries, coleslaw, and fried pickles. Deserts include a line of custards, hand-spun shakes, and “cold fusions” – a Blizzard-style treat with mix-ins.
“At Super Chix, we are super into chicken,” the company’s marketing copywriters note. “We think it’s just about the most perfect food in the world. And we wanted our recipes to celebrate all that perfection. So we did something drastic. We decided to keep it simple. We decided to bring to you The Last True Chicken Sandwich.”
Expansion into Idaho
The first Super Chix in Idaho opened in Ammon, just outside of Idaho Falls, earlier this year. East Idaho News reports the franchise location is owned by Flying H Holdings and Bill Hawes – who owns the local Fanci Freez locations in Boise and Meridian.
“Though we offer chicken sandwiches, fries, and salads, we are not a fast-food restaurant,” Hawes told EastIdahoNews. “Your food will not come out immediately. We cook it when you order it. We put a lot of care and pride into how … it’s presented (to the customer).”
Super Chix currently counts nine locations, but additional stories across the west are coming soon.

Super Chix is just the third announced tenant for the large Orchard Park project, including the Winco Food store under construction as well as a Meridian Library branch. The leasing plan for the project shows as many as 15 additional retail spaces currently available – plus a number of pad sites for fast food or other retail options.
The 78-acre site would also include future home sites, as well as office buildings and parking for more than 500 cars.
