Coronavirus In Illinois: Lake In The Hills Closures, Precautions

Village of Lake in the Hills officials announced the following with the safety of the community and Village employees in mind.

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — In response to the coronavirus pandemic, Illinois residents are currently following a stay-at-home order issued by Gov. J.B. Pritzker through April 7. The Village of Lake in the Hill recently announced the following facility closures in an effort to protect public health and keep community members and Village employees safe:

Facility closures:

  • Village Hall
  • Public Works
  • The Airport office
  • T LaBahn-Hain House

"This is a rapidly changing situation and the Village is working closely with county and state agencies," a news release from the Village stated. "The ability to reopen to the public will be assessed on an ongoing basis after April 7."

Airport office further information according to the Village newsletter:

"The Airport has instituted measures to protect our community, staff, tenants, and airport users during this tumultuous time. While we strive to maintain a level of service our customers have come to expect, we have been asked to exercise certain safeguards to slow the spread of this pandemic. Full-service fuel remains available to all customers at the airport during regular business hours which are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily. The airport office has been closed to the public to limit exposure to our team members. Restroom facilities with hand sanitizer are available on the airport at the locations indicated below. Essential repair services at the airport remain open with limitations. A complete list of services, their status, and contact information is provided. This information is posted as you enter the airport vehicle gate as well.
We must all do our part to limit the spread of this virus and in that regard appreciate your understanding and patience."

Ongoing services:

Staff will continue to provide services to residents, businesses, and the community via email and telephone. Staff can be reached at 847-960-7400 and additional contact information is available at lith.org/contact-us. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of opportunities to conduct business through our website, such as making payments or applying for permits. Online services may be accessed by visiting lith.org/resourcecenter.

Program cancellations:

At this time, all Village programs and events are suspended through April 2, in accordance with Gov. Pritzker’s Stay at Home Order. The reinstatement of programs and events will be assessed on an ongoing basis after April 7.

Records Division temporary change in hours:

The Records Division in the upper lobby of the police station will have reduced hours of operation until further notice. Hours of operation for the Records Division have been temporarily reduced to 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday (for example, they regularly close at 6 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. The lower lobby will remain open to the public 24/7. Citizens are encouraged to take advantage of online services; Freedom of Information requests may be submitted via JustFOIA.

Water shut off and late fee suspension:

At this time, all Village water shutoffs and late fees have been suspended for 45 days as of March 18, 2020. Water bills can be paid online and the drop box at Village Hall, 600 Harvest Gate, is still available to drop off payments. Both First National Bank locations, and the Home State Bank within Lake in the Hills, may also be utilized as drop off locations.

Building permits and inspections: Building permits and essential inspections continue through the Village’s Community Development division. Residents and contractors may use the Public Portal for online permits, scheduling inspections, and for license applications.. A PDF building permit application is available online for projects not available through the public portal. Completed applications and materials may be emailed to cd@lith.org. Oversized permit application materials, such as plans and blueprints, may be submitted utilizing the drop box located at the Village Hall driveway entrance. For plans that are too large for the dropbox, please contact the customer service division at 847-960-7400 to coordinate delivery options.

Local disaster emergency: In accordance with the Illinois Emergency Management Act, the Village Board declared a Local Disaster Emergency through April 9 at the March 18 Ad Hoc meeting. This declaration allows the Village to activate an emergency response plan, activate personnel to perform emergency response action items, make reasonable emergency expenditures, and enables the Village to become eligible for state and federal refunds for emergency expenditures.

Prevention:

  • Stay informed by checking the CDC's website and its social media pages for the most recent information.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap is unavailable.

Village updates: Telephone Reporting for Non-Emergency Calls:

In an effort to reduce the potential exposure of our police first responders during the period that McHenry County is impacted by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) the Police Department will be temporarily adjusting our response procedures. To file a report or complaint that is of a non-emergency nature, citizens are requested to continue to call the non-emergency line at 847-658-5676.
