Gov. Mike DeWine has moved his Thursday coronavirus briefing to Friday so he can meet President Donald Trump in Northeast Ohio.

DeWine plans to greet Trump on the tarmac in Cleveland, according to the governor's spokesman Dan Tierney. He will not join the president for other events scheduled that day.

Trump plans to tour the Whirlpool plant in Clyde, Ohio – southwest of Sandusky – on Thursday. Trump later plans to appear at a fundraiser at the Shoreby Club on Lake Erie in Bratenahl.

On Tuesday afternoon, Tierney said DeWine was not planning to travel north to take part in any of the president's events and would hold his regular briefing Thursday afternoon. The governor's office announced the change Wednesday morning.

DeWine's next coronavirus briefing is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday.
