List of events around Nevada, northeastern California canceled or postponed due to COVID-19

The coronavirus pandemic has forced the cancellation or postponement of several major events in Nevada. Here's the breakdown of what events are off this year.

May

The Reno River Festival, scheduled to take place May 9-10, has been rescheduled for Aug. 15-16.

The  scheduled to take place on May 13 at the Reno Little Theater. Ticketholders should anticipate an email with details about full refunds, if desired, and the new date and location.

The debut of Food Truck Fridays, originally set to launch May 15 at Reno's Idlewild Park, has been postponed until May 29 or June 5 "at the earliest." 

The Reno Tahoe Odyssey  relay race, scheduled for May 29-30, has been canceled. It's the first time in 16 years that the event will not take place.

Nitro Circus Live, an action sports event scheduled for May 30 at Greater Nevada Field, has been postponed until Sept. 18.

June

The annual Street Vibrations Spring Rally, scheduled for June 5-7 in Reno, Carson City, Virginia City and Lake Tahoe, has been canceled for 2020. 

The Reno Rodeo, scheduled for June 18-27, has been canceled. This year will be the first without the event since 1944. The Bob Feist Invitational team roping competition, held in conjunction with the Reno Rodeo, will be shifted to a new date and alternate location to be determined.

The Stewart Indian School Father's Day Powwow, scheduled for June 19-21, has been canceled. The Nevada Indian Commission is issuing refunds to vendors and plans to host the event again in 2021.

The six-week display of Chinese Dragon Lights at the Wilbur D. May Arboretum and Botanical Garden has canceled its summer return to Reno. The display was scheduled to open June 28.

The Barracuda Championship, the PGA Tour's closest visit to Northern Nevada, has been postponed. The event, originally scheduled for June 29-July 5, has been shifted to July 27-Aug. 2. This year's tournament will be held at Old Greenwood Golf Course in Truckee, following a 21-year run at Reno's Montreux Golf & Country Club.

July

Artown, Reno's monthlong arts and music festival, canceled all live performances at Wingfield Park and Hawkins Amphitheater for 2020. The event was scheduled to run July 1-31. The organization instead will encourage locals to create their own artwork through a campaign called "Heartown."

The Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival, scheduled for July 3-August 23 at Sand Harbor State Park, has been canceled for 2020. 

Fourth of July events in Truckee, North Lake TahoeIncline Village and South Lake Tahoe have been canceled, including fireworks shows, the Fourth of July parade and the Firecracker Mile in and around North Lake Tahoe.

Fourth of July drag races in Yerington have been canceled by the Federal Aviation Administration. No other Fourth of July events in Yerington have been canceled at this time.

Night in the Country, scheduled for July 23-25, has been canceled. The event draws 30,000 country music fans to Yerington annually; organizers said in mid-May that this year's event had been close to a sellout.

August

Burning Man, a fixture of Northern Nevada's summer schedule since 1990, canceled its 2020 event. It was scheduled to run Aug. 30-Sept. 7. It announced ticket refunds, staff layoffs and other budget cuts in April.

Life is Beautiful, a three-day arts and music festival that’s become an annual favorite in downtown Las Vegas, has been canceled in the wake of coronavirus. It was scheduled for Sept. 18-20.

Reno 1868 FC and the entire United Soccer League have placed the 2020 season on indefinite hold. Reno's club was able to play one match before the season was suspended, winning 3-1 on March 6 in Tacoma.

The Reno Aces 2020 season, along with the seasons of all Minor League Baseball teams, have been postponed. The season's start date has yet to be announced.
