Clemson's Chase Brice announces intent to transfer
Clemson, S.C. -- There was never much doubt of Chase Brice's decision, if the Clemson backup quarterback wanted a fair chance to start.Wedged between Trevor Lawrence and D.J. Uiagalelei, Clemson's other quarterback announced his intent to transfer Thursday on Twitter."During my time at Clemson, I've wanted to stay the cuorse and be the best quarterback, best competitor, best student, best person and best teammate I could be and tried to represent the Clemson Family with as much class and character as I possibly could. And while it's both exciting and sad to say, today, I'm announcing my intention to transfer from Clemson and continue my college football career elsewhere."Brice's statement also included powerful words for his peers: "To my teammates, it's been the best three years of my life accomplishing what we've accomplished. What we've done together has been historic and special, but while the world will remember what we did, we'll always remember who we did it with. It's been an honor to be your teammate, and we will be family for life. Thank you for believing in me when I ran out onto the field against Syracuse that day in 2018 and every day since."The former three-star recruit, according to the 247 Sports Composite, helped keep Clemson's win-streak and title hopes alive last September, leading the Tigers on a game-winning drive that included a 20-yard pass on 4th-and-6, and a 17-yard gain the following play that pushed the Tigers into the redzone. Brice, a redshirt sophomore, will be a graduate transfer able to play immediately with two seasons of eligibility left.
