UK naval base in Bahrain 'will improve security'

Britain has stepped up its military presence in the Gulf by starting construction on a new naval base in Bahrain.

Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond attended the inauguration of HMS Juffair. He said the base represented a watershed moment for Britain's presence in the region.

Speaking to the BBC's Frank Gardner, General Sir Richard Barrons outlined its importance to both the UK and Bahrain.
