A semi-military court established under a state of emergency in 2011 had originally sentenced the men to life in prison.
But an appeals court reduced the sentence to 15 years in December last year.
Lawyers for the defendants said their clients were "tortured" while in custody in 2011, and no action has been taken in response to their complaints.
Scores of Shias have been jailed over accusations of involvement in violence since protests against the ruling Sunni alKhalifa dynasty erupted in February 2011.
Despite a heavy-handed crackdown by security forces in mid-March 2011, supported by Saudi-led Gulf troops, protesters quickly returned to the streets, mainly in Shia villages, where they frequently clash with police.
At least 80 people have been killed in Bahrain since February 2011, according to the International Federation for Human Rights.
Strategically located across the Gulf from Iran, Bahrain is home to the US Navy's Fifth Fleet and is a major offshore financial and services centre for its Arab neighbours in the oil-rich Gulf.

Anyone who does not like US polices in Bahrain & for that matter anywhere in the world need to send an e-mail (in English) to President Obama. I do that regularly, I do not get any results however it am just one individual.
I must add we need to move the US Fleet from Manama & abandon the Autocratic dictators. All these kind of leader(s) will go, be it Bahrain, Iran, Libya, Egypt, Tunisia and other hippocratic corrupt can NO long exist by ruling through Thugs & Kangaroo courts.
When the royal family in Bahrain falls, Pakistanis will be the first target for the people who will overthrow that ruling family. Most of the security forces there are staffed by Pakistanis. The local Shia people see the Pakistanis as mercenaries who are helping their dictator repress them.
Why write Shia instead of mentioning their nationality??
Tribune, you guys should get more responsible in using the term Shia! The headline should have been "14 Bahrianis jailed for killing a Pakistani". Stop this sectarianism! Shia make up 30% of Pakistan and you shouldn't offending their feelings!

This story that was written by the AFP which is an international news agency clearly shows how news is manipulated by these agencies to foster their own interests.
The sad part is that we in the third world have to consume this biased/manipulated material.
@Linchpin no way to justify killing of humans, but we as pakistanis are painted as mercenaries by the natives who think thay are being oppressed by its ruling elites through paki mercenaries.
Journalism and reporting should not be out of context as mainstream world media is not giving bahrain uprisisng the same coverage like other arab springs.

Basically Pakistanis are recruited by the Sultanate to murder Shias, for the obvious hatred that Pakistanis have towards Shias.

The Sultanate of Bahrain should be disbanded and the power should be given to the people. Who are Shia, obviously.
USA called Saddam a cruel dictator and attacked and gave the power back to Shia.
How different is Bahrain from Iraq? Bahrain is equally cruel towards the Shia majority.
But then, expecting USA to do the right thing is meaningless.
The Shia of Bahran should rise up against the oppressive rulers and take the -power from them.

Pakistan's foreign policy since 1977 has been run by the Army. Just like one major 'achievement' of this foreign policy was the birth of Taliban, a minor 'achievement' was the infiltration of Bahrain security forces by Pakistanis. This is what happens when khakis take over civilian functions.

Pakistan has given Shias freedom which they need however i do agree that "some" fanatic elements are being used which are very low in number. statement like "poos pakistanis with full hate against shia" is a real hard argument to present.
