NJ 10th Primary Election Results: Payne, Zinone Win

NEW JERSEY — U.S. Rep. Donald Payne Jr. of New Jersey's 10th District succesfully fended off a challenge from two Democratic opponents during the primary election on Tuesday, reports say.

Payne, who has served as congressman for the district since 2012, ran against Eugene Mazo, a professor at Rutgers Law School, and John Flora, an educator in Jersey City. The winner will get the Democratic Party nomination in the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Jennifer Zinone, a Bayonne native, church council president and board member of Women of the ELCA, ran unopposed for the Republican Party nomination. The Associated Press declared Zinone the winner late Tuesday night.

Multiple reports have since declared Payne and Zinone as the winners of the Democratic and Republican nominations.
