Strollers welcome at Baby Boot Camp in North Tampa

After working in the weight loss, health and wellness field, Amy Armstrong knows first hand the challenges moms face when it comes to working out.

"I know how hard it is for a mom to find the time to exercise, for all kinds of reasons," said Armstrong.

The mother of three, Armstrong has struggled with her weight since childhood. After leaving the corporate world to stay home with her youngest daughter, she wanted to still do something in the health and wellness field. That's when she found Baby Boot Camp, a Sarasota based franchise that offers stroller fitness classes.

After holding free pop-up classes around the north Tampa area for several months, Armstrong celebrated the official grand opening of Baby Boot Camp last month.

The 60 minute classes are led by nationally certified fitness instructors and cater to all fitness levels, including pregnant and postpartum women.

During the first 45 minutes of class, children four and under must remain in the stroller, but during the last 15 minutes, children can get out of the stroller to enjoy playtime.

Armstrong said that classes are a great way for moms to connect and learn from each other, while also showing kids the importance of staying healthy.

"It's about setting a good example to your family and I love that that's what this program is all about," Armstrong said.

Depending on weather, classes are either held indoors or outdoors at All Saints Lutheran Church, 5315 Van Dyke Road, or at Almost Home After School Center, 6625 Van Dyke Road. For more information or to register for a class call (813) 205-1990 or visit babybootcamp.com.
