Piled high with crispy toppings and freshly melted cheese, there’s nothing better than a great cheeseburger to celebrate an upcoming national food holiday. National Cheeseburger Day is Sept. 18 – and we’ve got five great picks across Orange and Ulster counties for you to celebrate with.

Orange County

Clemson Bros. Brewery – This microbrewery housed in a historic brick building offers an array of piled-high burgers, including the Clemson stout, named after the signature barbeque sauce made with beer used on the burger. It features a creamy garlic aioli, white cheddar, onion fritz, lettuce and tomato for a burger perfectly paired with one of the brewery’s nine handcrafted beers on tap. Craft 47 – Order the signature Craft 47 burger, a 2/3 pound, hand-packed black angus burger on a brioche roll, and pick from an entire menu of six toppings and five different types of cheese. For a bit more variety, you can choose from the hand-packed slider menu complete with toppings like applewood bacon, avocado with chipotle sauce and duck confit. The Table – With 14 different burgers to choose from on its menu, The Table offers everything from the summer peach burger with grilled peaches, bacon and barbecue sauce to its green goddess burger with fried green tomatoes, sliced avocado and garlic aioli. Ulster County

The Anchor – Over a dozen burgers grace this spot’s menu, including the decadent cheezey breezy that features a Kilcoyne beef burger, a slab of mac and cheese, cheddar jack, bacon, scallions and chipotle barbecue sauce. Although it’s missing the cheese, The Anchor also offers a vegan burger: an Impossible Burger base with vegan spicy sauce, tomato and red onion on toasted sourdough. Buns Burgers – Choose from your pick of a Kilcoyne grass-fed beef, lamb or portobello mushroom patty with a variety of different toppings like pickles, lettuce and tomato or the restaurant’s signature zesty mayo sauce.
