Police make arrest in shooting of 5-year-old central Pa. boy

One suspect is in custody following the shooting of a 5-year-old boy in York, according to York City police.

Police did not identify the suspect, but said it was a male who is awaiting arraignment on “multiple criminal charges."

The arrest comes hours after a 5-year-old boy was shot in the 200 block of East Philadelphia Street on Tuesday afternoon, and died a short time later at York Hospital.

The boy has not been identified pending notifications to family, the coroner said Tuesday night.

Police said they will release more information on the shooting at 11 a.m. Wednesday, and the coroner is also expected to release more information after the boys autopsy tomorrow.
