We were really blown away, however, by its performance. Honeywell’s 502050-S True HEPA Air Purifier is not only currently priced at $219.99—$30 off its normal $249.99 and the lowest price we’ve seen on this machine since July—it’s a tried-and-true model that will suit even homes with pet dander. Though we haven’t collectively tested this model, I’ve owned it myself for about seven years, and it definitely gets the job done. Sure, it will cleanse the air of regular nuisances, such as dust, lint and the like, but thing has also been a Godsend for sucking up any errant fur that would otherwise be floating around from our two cats. While it’s glass-fiber HEPA filter, said to capture up to 99.97% of particles down to .3 microns, can be on the pricier side, it can be vacuumed to extend its life by as much as five years (I admittedly went even longer than that with no issues). I’m not its only fan, either: far from. More than 3,000 customers on Amazon, where it’s nearly sold out, also tout its praises. This machine is certified by the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers for rooms up to 390 square feet.

3. Save nearly $50: This popular 2-for-1 device

If you’re looking for an air purifier that does it all, you just may have found it in the Sharp Plasmacluster KC-850U Air Purifier . This 2-in-1 device is not only set up to capture 99.97% of the particles that pass through its HEPA filter (as small as .3 microns) thanks to its patented Plasmacluster Ion technology, which allows it to release positively and negatively charged ions into the room to break microorganisms down, it’s also equipped with a humidifying function to keep your space adequately moist. In addition, there are three different manual fan speeds to help cool you down when you’re feeling overheated. It works best in medium-sized rooms (up to 254 square-feet), and it has built-in sensors to purify and humidify as needed. It also just so happens to be nearly $50 off at Walmart, where it falls from $349.99 to $302.22.

If you’ve got the extra money to spend, you’d do well to invest in the LG AS560DWR0 Air Purifier, which is currently on sale at AJ Madison for $1,165—down $264 from its usual $1,429.99. Comprised of two stacked air purifying units with an additional fan on top, this was one of the few devices we found to remove strong fragrances in testing—in fact, this machine “knocked it out of the park." It’s also got a ton of great features (we didn't name it "best smart purifier" for nothing!). In addition to its Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant compatibility, which allows you to communicate with your machine, there are five different fan speeds and a "Clean Booster" feature that will deliver clean air up to 24 feet above your head. What's more, it's extremely attractive, which is good, because you won’t want to move it around much once you’ve got it in place due to its large size. It’s one downfall? It didn’t do as great as some of our other picks when it came to cigarette smoke, so if that’s a concern in your home, you may want to choose another model.

Looking for something a little less... clunky? Though we haven’t yet tested the Vornado CYLO Air Purifier, we did test a larger model, the Vornado AC550. In addition to stripping out fish and other cooking smells, we found it to be both portable and user-friendly.
