Stolen Motorboat Crashes Into NH House

Investigators are asking for tips after an unoccupied motorboat with its engine running was found crashed into a home on Ossipee Lake.

OSSIPEE, NH — The New Hampshire Marine Patrol is asking for the public’s help identifying the person or persons who may have been involved in a stolen boat incident this morning in Center Ossipee, according to a press statement. At just before 12:15 a.m. on July 10, 2017, state police marine patrol and other officers were called to a home on Deer Cove Road on Ossipee Lake after a motorboat plowed into the side of a home. The engine on the boat was still running but no one was onboard, according to Lt. Crystal McLain of the Marine Patrol.

“Once on-scene, first responders found that the vessel traveled approximately 75 feet from the water, across a beach, and over a road where it ultimately struck the building,” she noted. “Specifically, it was situated on the porch of the residence and had crashed partially through the side of the home. No one inside the house was injured during the crash.”

Members of the Ossipee Police Department, West Ossipee Fire Department, Center Ossipee Fire, New Hampshire State Police, and the New Hampshire State Police Marine Patrol searched the water and the shoreline for any persons injured or involved in the accident but no one was found. During the investigation, it was determined that the vessel was stolen from a mooring at Bluffs Beach in Center Ossipee. The boat was a 2007 22-foot Black Four Winns.
