Huron Hospice ready for Thursday showcase

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Huron Hospice has had to look to other means of fundraising after cancelling their annual live auction.

“We rely on the Huron County community for half of our revenues every year,” said Fundraising Manager Chris Walker, “but it’s been a challenging year for charities because we can’t raise money the way we raised money in the past.”

Walker said residents can donate to the hospice this year by taking part in Thursday's telethon, There’s No Place Like Home, which will showcase talent from Huron County.

“When they tune in, they are going to see some phenomenal talent. We have a Juno award winner from Brussels, we have the first Canadian Idol winner from Goderich, and we’ve got a pair of world-renowned pianists from Bayfield.”

The telethon can be seen at www.huronhospice.ca and on Tuckersmith and Hurontel cable channel 1.

Walker said their goal is to raise between $70,000 and $80,000.
