Authorities canceled an Amber Alert for a missing Bosque County 8-year-old after she was found injured in a vehicle crash that killed two in Johnson County on Saturday, the sheriff's office says.
An Amber Alert was issued for the girl early Saturday morning after her 7-year-old brother ran into a convenience store off Interstate 35 in Hill County to ask for help, according to Bosque County Sheriff Trace Hendricks.
Hendricks said the boy told authorities the man who took his sister and him, Randall Thurman, left the boy at the convenience store and drove off with the girl. The children's mother told authorities Thurman was a family member and deputies learned he was a registered sex offender.
The boy was taken by ambulance to a "medical facility" for treatment, the sheriff's office said.

Authorities said just after 9 a.m. Saturday, a resident saw a car on their property that matched the description of the vehicle in the Amber Alert and called the Hill County Sheriff's Office.
When deputies tried to pull the vehicle over, Thurman fled on Farm-to-Market Road 171 toward Cleburne, according to the sheriff's office.
Shortly after crossing the Johnson County line, authorities said the car crossed over the center line and drove at a high speed toward an oncoming vehicle. Deputies said they believed "the maneuver to have been intentional."

The cars collided head-on, and the drivers of both vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle was not immediately identified.
The 8-year-old girl communicated with officers at the scene and was taken by helicopter to an area hospital, authorities said.
Her condition was not immediately available.
The children's mother first reported them missing from a residence in Walnut Springs at about 10:45 p.m. Friday.
